Patronymicon - All Daggers Towards the Sky

There are other bands that hybrid Death Metal and Black Metal. While the focus here is truly Black Metal, the combination is unique. Most of the songs have the tin guitars sounds accompanied by strong bitey vocals but when the mix of Death Metal drive occurs, most specifically on World Closure, the tin sound disappears for a more thunderous sound. It really makes the drive feel heavier and intense. Like a mixture of raw and industrial. All in all, Patronymicon has real strength at building to strong moments in songs. Mourning Cold reminds me of Behemoth.

The guitar dynamic adds a strength to the song writing, very often a consistent high drone in Black Metal can become occasionally monotonous. The vocals have that psychotic sound I look for, along with being very full and strong. I would imagine live they dominate.

I put Patronymicon in RECOMMEND category. Check them out and see if there sound works for you.
